[That was an excellent cutting-off of her apology and any other time it would have worked. But she's really worked herself up over this one.]

It was my fault and I shouldn't've ever said something like that to you and I'm too sorry to figure out how to say it exactly without apologizing for the next week and I...I didn't mean it you know that right?

It's fine. Last week was - it's difficult to explain what it was, exactly. Our perceptions of reality were changed. We might have even been different people entirely.

Please don't do this to yourself. Especially over something like - that.

[Now that she's said it, though, she looks a heck of a lot calmer. It sure doesn't seem like Raine's upset about it.]

The Sheena I spoke to had a reason for... saying what she did. I understand that it's not what you meant, even if you continue to bear that burden. Your apologizing means that you're willing to accept responsibility for it, even if you're well in your rights not to. And I... accept that.

...There wasn't a reason. She...I...sh-she did it just to hurt you. I don't really think that stuff.

I know you don't. I'm sure if you had, it would have come out a lot sooner than an incident like this.

It's forgiven, so please ... [She's positioned so she can see the dining room and foyer from where she stands.] ... Just ... come have some tea, all right?

...Yeah. Yeah, okay.

[Still looking a little shaky, Sheena will go and take a seat at the table. Right now sitting down is the better option.]

[It is the better option. Once Sheena is properly seated, Raine moves over to start the kettle. It won't be the first time she's made tea today, and probably not the last.

She looks so distracted.]

Are you...okay? I mean...the last time I really remember seeing you was in the clinic and then...I don't know who you were.

[She blinks a little, focusing her attention back on her guest.] ... Who I was?

I... wasn't radically different. Not enough to really be noticed, anyway ...

I don't remember it all exactly right but you sounded like yourself.

[There's something else she wants to say and it almost comes out...but no. Not right now.]

... Yes. I think I was, for the most part, myself. At least... someone I can recognize as being myself, and others also confirmed this. [Which is what makes the double memories worse in a way.]

That's...good though, right?

[Her doubled memories are so different it's easy to pick the familiar ones. Not so easy to think about which ones are more real...but that's not a train of thought for right now.]

How's...Albert and Caesar?

I'm... not certain. [Even now. Even with this distanced perspective she's been struggling to maintain. Two entwined lives? It wasn't as if she was a stranger to duality.

... The thought almost makes her laugh. Duality. But there was always more than that. Always more. And here she was, distracted again. Others had it far worse. She had no right to-]

Hm? ... Ah, they're probably as well as they can be, at this point. It hasn't been a particularly easy week.

[She shakes her head slightly, and checks the kettle. Almost ready. Maybe she should get the cups.]

I think it's more important than you're letting on.

[But it must seem like she plans to drop it there when she gets up to help. She knows where they keep cups.]

[She doesn't say anything until she can tell what the other woman is doing.] You... don't have to do that.

... Y-yes, of course it is. The water is almost ready, anyway.

[Then she'll set two cups down on the counter, near the kettle. Raine may be too distracted to notice, but she's wearing her longer gloves despite the heat]
