Oh -- no. It's not like that. Maybe it will seem like that, when I get there, but... right now, it's almost as if the entire town is... covered in water. I don't know how deep it is -- I haven't looked, for a while, and it hasn't reached me.

[Pause. She must sound almost as if she's rambling. She's not.] I can't stay up here. So... as long as I can get back home without thinking about it too much, it might not be so bad, if I can just - get right to sleep. Or something like that, anyway.

[Not to be deterred, Sheena walks to the edge of the roof and looks over. No, the town is actually not filling up with water. Good. But no matter how high Raine thinks it is, if it's high enough to be "over her house" then she's kinda...in trouble.]

You sure you wanna go home? You could come back to my house or just stay on the top floor here.

Yes, I'm sure. I just need to -- focus, and try not to think about it, but ... I'll need you to help guide me. [It sounds a lot easier to say, but she knows there will be more distractions than just the water out there once more people are around.]

Sort of. It's complicated and I don't fully know the details of why to really explain it properly. I know that it will go away, in time, so it's not as bad as it was back then.

[But she does know something. It's evident in the immediate left turn of the conversation into other territory. Sheena just sighs; sooner or later it gets hard to keep asking.]

Well do you think you can get up now? Or do you wanna wait?

... Is it very crowded below?

Well it's kinda worse than usual, but I guess it's not that bad. People're inside mostly.

... Which building is this? [It'll help her gauge the distance better.]

Number four. We're not really anywhere helpful. Maybe you should just stay here, I'd bet anything one of the top rooms is still empty. Nobody wants to climb stairs in this heat.

My house isn't very far... [But the stairs. Sheena was right that there were a lot of them.] ... maybe we could stop for a little while. Until the heat of the day passes.

I think that's probably a better idea. [No offense to Raine, but she doesn't look like she could quite get all the way home.] Can you get up?

I think so. [Getting the motivation to actually try is another, so she takes a few moments in getting to her feet. The world still has an uneven feeling, even if there's nothing in sight. ... Low rolls of thunder on a cloudless day.] Can you retrieve that light blanket for me?

You think you need it? It's like Efreet's temple out here.

[Grumbling and fussing are just part of the job. She brings back the blanket, holding it at arm's length because it really is warm.]

I know. I just didn't want to forget it up here. [Raine reaches out to take it from her. It's not really very large or thick, more like a throw-blanket. She carefully starts to fold it up.]

[Large, small, heavy or not - it's way too hot for a blanket.]

Just bring it, we're not going very far. And I kinda think you're stalling a little bit.

I am not stalling. [She totally is. The blanket goes back into the little basket that's near her feet now. She reaches to pick it up.] I'm ready to go.

You're using your caught-red-handed voice though.

[Sheena walks next to her, in case she needs help with balance, until they get to the door. That, she'll hold open.]

Just go one floor down, and I'll find something empty.

[Good, no water on the stairs. She forces herself not to even entertain that possibility, lest it try to creep all the way up there after her. There are some unhappy looking ninjas' though, standing and staring. It resonates with something she might have experienced in a different life. She can't let that thought set in; they knew she was there.]

... all right. I'm fine. [She'd just have to focus on staying balanced.]

[It would sound very weird to Sheena, who doesn't feel at the moment as though she is carrying around her usual thundercloud of doom and judgment. Outside of helping Raine she's just trying to do her job for Yuri and Brave Vesperia.

In the interest of preventing disaster she goes down the stairs first, slowly, and looking over her shoulder to make sure Raine doesn't trip.]

[Raine moves very slowly. Hard to grab onto a railing, so she walks right down the middle. As long as they don't try to rip her, she should be fine.

... Well, she can't help the little stumble near the end there.]

[Hearing the stumble, Sheena turns and reaches out fast enough to stop Raine from hitting the floor.]

Careful. You okay?

Y-yes, I -- sorry, I just missed the step. [There's a little padding up ahead, leading the way, a small golden foxlike creature with a brightly colored tail. It pauses by one of the doors, waiting.]

[Of course, Sheena can't see the false ghost of her old friend. She can see the odd look on Raine's face just fine, though.]

Yeah, and stuff like that is exactly why we're not going down all the way yet. C'mon, let's check the apartments. Or d'you wanna sit here while I look?

I think I'll wait in the hall. I doubt it'll take you too long to find an empty room.
