[The first day Sayo didn’t show up for work, Sheena was only a little worried. She’d been having more memory problems lately, and chances were good she had forgotten again, or thought she was supposed to stay at the restaurant.

It was a little more worrying on the second day. She met no rampaging half-elves in the street, though, so it was probably nothing.

But now? It's been days, and now that they're free of the chaos of a draft and a weird holiday, she’s decided to figure out what the heck is going on here. Her filtered attempt at a message to Sayo breaks. That’s…about the end of it, then, isn’t it?

She’ll sneak into the house to check. It doesn’t feel right to just walk on in. When she makes the announcement she’s back in the tea shop.]

Look, uh…I know things are kinda rough right now, but someone’s gotta… [It’s impossible to soften this kind of thing, huh?] Sayo’s gone. I’m pretty sure. She had a bunch of notes about people that she wrote down, so if you want them…I’ve got them.

[There's a pause.]

So. Five years. ...Kinda not how I wanted this day to turn out. Sorry, Sayo.

Accidentally set the place afire.

[And he wonders why she watches him like a hawk when he's in the tea shop.]

What the heck is "Romulan ale"?

It's blue and it enables a man to light his belches on fire.

[Picturing this is pretty entertaining, actually. Good on you, Jack, there's not a lot to make someone feel better on the start of their sixth year as an experiment.]

The place was okay, or you wouldn't be telling me this story.

Never realized how much she enjoyed the wall calendar what we burnt to a singe-ing crisp....

[There had been a lot of yelling and running and some kind of bucket brigade. The flames had been extinguished pretty quickly with minimal damage.

Sayo had been pissed, though.]

Y'know, I don't think I ever really saw her get mad. Even when...stuff was happening. [Even when Mithos was using her for target practice.]

They let you out yet?

Nah. Still in, me. If they'd just let me take the pills an' some rum an' shuffle off home, I'd be fine.

But no. Clinic.

[He shuts up his complaining for a sec:]

Possibly you never saw her angry because you never lit anything she liked on fire.

I try not to light anything in the shop on fire at all, tea's flammable. The dry stuff anyway.

Sure. I'll get there later. I wanna be here in case anybody shows up looking for the stuff Sayo left for them.

[Not too much later. Tea shop's kind of a ghost town, so she'll grab Jack's note and head over to the clinic in an hour or so.]

[That's where he'll be, at least for now. Not much choice in the matter. When she finds him it will be fairly heavily medicated, though he will still be looking for rum.]

[Well she's not gonna stare at a semiconscious pirate. If he's too out of it she'll say a hello and then take her leave.]

Mmmm? [Through the haze, Jack opens his eyes.] Buffy?

Nope, try again. ...Actually, you look really out of it, maybe I'll come back at a better time.

.......Sheena? Beautiful Sheena?

[He tries to prop himself up a bit more -- wake himself up a bit.]

You got it that time. Don't sit up, really, I was mostly just coming to keep you from going crazy but sleeping's gotta be better.

[Crazy......Is he there yet? At crazy? No. This is just pain.]

Thanks. I am too, but I'm kinda more worried about what some other people are gonna do now that she's gone.

[The last two times Mithos lost someone he cared about, Sheena ended up in the hospital bed. She's been looking over her shoulder for hours now.]

Worried? About WHAT other people, darling?

Just, uh, some people who were really close to her and they're gonna be upset that she's gone. I mean really upset. Enough to hurt people.
