141. Evening

[The first day Sayo didn’t show up for work, Sheena was only a little worried. She’d been having more memory problems lately, and chances were good she had forgotten again, or thought she was supposed to stay at the restaurant.

It was a little more worrying on the second day. She met no rampaging half-elves in the street, though, so it was probably nothing.

But now? It's been days, and now that they're free of the chaos of a draft and a weird holiday, she’s decided to figure out what the heck is going on here. Her filtered attempt at a message to Sayo breaks. That’s…about the end of it, then, isn’t it?

She’ll sneak into the house to check. It doesn’t feel right to just walk on in. When she makes the announcement she’s back in the tea shop.]

Look, uh…I know things are kinda rough right now, but someone’s gotta… [It’s impossible to soften this kind of thing, huh?] Sayo’s gone. I’m pretty sure. She had a bunch of notes about people that she wrote down, so if you want them…I’ve got them.

[There's a pause.]

So. Five years. ...Kinda not how I wanted this day to turn out. Sorry, Sayo.

[She doesn't really know Sheena very well or knew this Sayo but... One of her friends had departed as well. So there is concern in Estelle's voice as she replies.]

Are you all right?

Yeah, I'm okay. Gonna miss her and everything, but she's one of the people who really deserves to be where she belongs.

I see. Two of my friends have left recently as well so I understand.

[It never gets easier. Estelle can believe that and it makes her uncomfortable, for she's certain this won't be the last time.]

[You know she really doesn't even want to talk to him. Ever. Mithos can go back to his fate as far as she's concerned. It's unfair, sure, but so is each and every time he takes his emotions out on other people instead of dealing with them like everybody else.

So for a nice long stretch of time she stays quiet, and even debates toying with him.

But she really doesn't wanna spend another week in the clinic.]

[Unfair? What's unfair is losing everything, over and over again. He's beginning to think that returning to his fate might be easier than remaining here. He didn't want to speak with her either, but he replied out of a need to clutch anything tangible Sayo had left behind. For a moment, he considers how to go about this.]

I shall come to you, human. [It's something of a forced tagline. But she doesn't need to know where he is.]

[Sheena is 100% prepared not to give him any other chances. If she were a crueler sort - or if she hadn't grown so much, maybe, through living here - she might have done something worse out of spite and 'fairness'.]
