122. Circumstances

[To think it was just a regular day.

Sheena stumbles her way around from the back of house 18. One arm is braced against the outside wall of the house, the other useless. It's a slow, staggering kind of walk. When she runs out of house, she manages to move just a few more feet, into the road, before crashing to the ground again. Mercifully, her journal comes loose from where she had carried it at her waist, and ends up open, pages face down.

It's just out of her reach; her fingertips brush against it but she can't turn it over. Maybe having it open is enough]

I-I...need help. ...Please.

[[ooc: Follows almost immediately after this log, meaning it's Thursday up in here. The log is unfinished so far but we wanted to avoid some insane backdating/the chance that LJ murders itself again. So!]]

[for someone in her condition, the newer clinic was probably the better choice. It's closer to the house and things just tend to move faster there.

It also means Raine may have to contend with a lot more machinery but surely she can handle that. Technological prodigy that she is, and all. at least with explosives.

She's asleep, as she has been most of the day, when Raine arrives.]

[Somehow Sheena seems to be in that same room she was in the last time. Resting just as Raine thought she might find her--her voice hadn't sounded particularly strong.

The machinery isn't her priority, however; checking Sheena's condition is, and right now there's not a lot to go on. Just by looking at her it's obvious she had gone through a lot.]

[Her broken arm is visible, as well as some small bandages on her face and other arm. A larger dressing peeks out of her shirt near one shoulder, too.

Thanks to the combined efforts of several other friends, she's at least sleeping peacefully, without too much pain to interrupt it.]

[wise_maiden]

[Hmm. At least most of the troubles seem to be addressed. Others would take some of her own skills, but first, she'll wait and see if Sheena awakens before she progresses any farther. She won't wake her up, but she'll wait a bit in that chair near the bed.

She may have brought a certain stuffed toy with her, though.]

[It won't be long. She hasn't managed to sleep for any long stretches yet. But at least when she wakes this time it's more of a choice, a decision to open her eyes and see if anything's changed.]

[wise_maiden]

[A couple of things have changed. One is that she may notice that there's a small stuffed toy tucked in next to her--on her good arm's side. For the other, she may notice her friend sitting in a nearby chair, looking over a book as she waits for Sheena to wake. Though at the signs of Sheena's stirring, the book would have been closed, of course.]

[she can't really move, but something feels different, so she's going to try. With enough shifting and catching of breaths, she can see the toy for what it is and she almost laughs.

There is at least a smile, and her head drops back onto the pillow so she can look at Raine more easily]

Have you been here long?

[by this point the weakness in her voice is made worse by not having had anything to drink in hours]

[wise_maiden]

Not terribly long. [She smiles, supportive, though it turns to concern easily enough with a tilt of the head.] Would you like some water?

[corrinesbell]

I dunno if...if I can drink it.

[her stomach hurts, even though she can't remember why. If Raine had any kind of conversation with the people who initially looked after her, they probably mentioned that garden stake. ...Or, well, that half of one]

[wise_maiden]

We can try a little bit, in the bottle. Then I'll take care of your wounds.

[corrinesbell]

[a few moments' quiet, then a nod]

Yeah. Okay.

[and her good hand comes up carefully to rest on top of the head of that stuffed toy]

[wise_maiden]

[And a small bottle of water with a straw will be gotten, just like the last time. The injury might not allow her to have solids very well, but water is water. She can't afford to be dehydrated on top of everything else.

Her next plan is to look at that arm of hers. But first, she'll wait to see how Sheena receives the drink.] Here you go.

[corrinesbell]

[she instinctively tries to sit up. That goes about as well as expected, and she grimaces and remains lying down.]

Could you help?

[wise_maiden]

[She had already been moving over to adjust the bed a little better to bring her to a semi-reclining position, then gets a few pillows to help her sit up better.]

[corrinesbell]

[ooh. Sitting up makes her dizzy]

[Raine will probably have to handle the bottle too, but Sheena is at least giving it a try, carefully reaching her good hand for it]

[wise_maiden]

[Raine will hover to make sure she can handle it it at the first sign of trouble. It's the kind of thing that if you don't have the strength to hold it up, only doing it one-handed won't help any better. The straw should help though - at least Sheena wouldn't have to lift it too far. Besides, all of this does is confirm just how poorly the ninja is really doing--actions louder than words. But she hopes that Sheena won't downplay it too much, given she does have to heal her.]

[she's had enough lectures and is too weak to really downplay anything. But she does seem to be able to hold the bottle long enough to drink about half of it. Then a dizzy spell takes over and she has to shut her eyes and not move for a minute.]

[wise_maiden]

[She'll take the bottle from her then. No need to finish the whole thing, after all.]

... Easy. Take it easy, Sheena. [She'll move some of those pillows again, so that she's a little more reclined.]

[corrinesbell]

[Thankfully the spell passes quickly, and being more reclined will ensure it doesn't keep happening every few minutes.]

Sorry. I'm okay now. Thanks for the water.

[wise_maiden]

You're welcome. [She sets it down on a nearby table.]

Let me have a look at your arm now.

[corrinesbell]

[a nod, and a glance down at her right arm where it's resting on top of the blanket. She doesn't even want to try moving it, and won't unless Raine prompts her to. Mithos' surprise attack had caused the break, and she can't imagine continuing the fight with him did it any good.

Under the splint it's swollen and sore]

[wise_maiden]

[Raine walks along to the other side of the bed to get a better look, undoing the splint temporarily so that she can see the extent of the damage. Fortunately, she's no stranger to broken arms like this.

She hovers her hands over the exposed injury, concentrating with her eyes closed.]

[corrinesbell]

[Sheena closes her eyes too. That arm has been aching, even with the things that others have done to try to help her. But this concentrated healing actually takes the edge off. It's such a relief.]

[wise_maiden]

[Whomever else had treated her may not have been too experienced with the magic that Raine's using; in any case, a glow will spread over Sheena's arm, expand, sink in while Raine's fingertips hover over it, maintaining it. She may very well feel the break repairing itself, the pieces slowly melding back together.

The arm will still be tender, of course, but whole. The soreness can be somewhat relieved with her usual magic, anyway. But one step at a time.]

[it was a pretty bad break - both bones in her forearm - but at the sensation of her bones fusing back together her eyes open quite wide.

It doesn't hurt, exactly. It feels like it should but there isn't any pain that she can pinpoint. Sheena watches Raine now, the soft glow of familiar magic and all her concentration on her work.

The swelling is even going down. Sheena is suitably impressed by all of this. She's heard Raine discuss difficulties with healing magic before and this has been one of them. She tries her absolute best not to move now until Raine is finished.]
