144. Quarters

[The morning is unremarkable, really. It isn't as hot as it was last week; there are some clouds, some sun, a little breeze. The only unusual thing, from Sheena's perspective, is that she gets up early to make breakfast for her roommates and she goes to work early, too. Early enough to help out the morning shift. Not too long into the shift she opens one of the tearoom windows and sticks her head out. The wind immediately blows her hair into her face and she doesn't care. Beside her on the table is her journal, which she opens only to half-grin into it.]

There's a special at the tea shop today. Everything's free! So you'd better show up.

[It's not even a very good joke. She just felt like something...normal. What passes for normal when a significant piece of your live has been lived in Luceti. When a significant age is already here.]

Did you say free tea? [Here's a regular hopping straight up to the counter after hearing the message. The joke is hovering somewhere in the stratosphere above his bald noggin.]

Yep! Even more free than usual.

Wow, that's... [He tries to count on his fingers for a moment until it hits him, and he sheepishly grins.] ...super free!

[Aang and Zuko were friends, right? Which linked Aang to the old guy who used to have the tea shop, naturally.]

I think I've got something you'll like. [Since some of his preferred jasmine tea was still around.]

[It's not just an early morning for the ninja. The end of the month is something that arrives almost unexpectedly; the second month without a single shift or a major mission or draft announcement. It's almost as if they're holding their breaths waiting for it, but it doesn't come.

Then again, after all that big winged-drama, they could all use the break.

In this case, Raine is there at the tea shop when the morning shift starts, having notably brought with her a cake (that she spent quite a few hours attempting the day before in her quest to create something edible). When Sheena arrives, it will be already set up, though she won't see Raine - given that she had gone to run a quick errand, not expecting the ninja to arrive for the morning shift. Oops.]

[It's open already, of course, so she doesn't have to unlock the door or get the place ready.

No, it seems someone's already done that. Sheena stares, then winds her way around the tables to consider the cake.]

[Unless any of her workers are around to answer her, for the moment there still is no answer. Only a cake. Not bakery quality, but at least attempting to be aesthetically pleasing with the additions of fresh kiwi and mango slices...]

W-wait, but what happens if the whole village shows up wanting food? What if we run out?

If they show up wanting food then they'll have to pay what they usually pay. The special's only for the tea.

Oh... that's better, I guess. I don't think we're going to run out of tea anytime soon, not with how much of it we've got left.

[Vyse has been keeping a low profile since his return- In the village, anyway. His usual thirst for exploration had kicked in and he had to see the sights in the barrier all over again. The mountain range, the old tunnels, the beach... That last one had been especially interesting.

Now his attention was back on the village and its inhabitants. Speaking of which... He knows the girl making this announcement. He can't be sure if she still knows him, but there's only one way to find out. Some time in the early afternoon, he strides into the tea shop to search for its owner.]

[The owner is busy brewing fresh free tea. When she does come back into the dining room, though, the sight off his freezes her where she stands.]

Vyse? That's you, right?

[That answered his question only too clearly. She does remember. It's a bit of a relief. There's a certain awkwardness that comes with having to introduce yourself all over again. He grins at her.]

Yeah, it's me. How've you been, Sheena?
