126. Bridge [action/voice]

[In the early afternoon, a small creature makes its way out of the forest. It holds the journal in its teeth; the book drags along the ground, making the little thing stop occasionally.

Not that it's going all too quickly. The creature is dragging its right hind leg along also, and favoring one of its front paws whenever it feels it can. Eventually it comes to a stop on the Marauding Bridge, putting the journal down and pulling it open with teeth.

It meant to say something else. Then exhaustion took over and it dropped onto its side there, head resting on the open journal's pages.]

I can't go any further.

[the voice is so tiny and high, there's pretty much no way to discern who it really belongs to...]

I was just confused. ...Thanks for doing that.

Of course. Do you require anything else? [Can I pet you again?] I am uncertain of what species of monster you have been transformed into, so I do not know what your eating habits are...

I'm not a monster. I'm a summon spirit. ...I dunno even if I need to eat, really.

[she won't argue about petting if you try]

[A summon spirit? But which one? Surely a grand thing like one of the Tethe'Allan summon spirits couldn't be this cute little animal...right? But then Presea lifts her head when Sheena says she doesn't eat. Presea stares at her, and feels a sort of connection. She didn't necessarily need to eat, either.]

...Understood. Do you need me to do anything else for you? I-I am sorry I cannot do more for you, Sheena. Are you still experiencing pain anywhere?

Quit apologizing so much, you sound like Colette. [a fox smile] I'm just sore. Not much anybody can do about that.

[Colette...Presea only very vaguely remembers Colette. She seemed so open and friendly, and she was always smiling. There was no way someone like her could even remotely resemble Colette. Or so she believed.]

I can apply heat your towel to relax and dull the stiffness in your muscles.

...Actually that sounds really great.

[Presea nods wordlessly, and very carefully removes the towel from Sheena's little box. She exits the room for a few minutes, coming back seemingly unchanged, but once she sets up the bed again, it's obvious that she warmed up the towel. It wasn't hot, but it was certainly giving off a nice, soothing amount of heat.]

[And Sheena lays right back down on that towel. She's already tired again. This is a little...ridiculous.]

Of course. If you require anything else at all, please inform me. Do not make any unnecessary attempts to move. [She means that, Sheena. Don't you dare push yourself.]

I can walk, y'know. I'm pretty okay now.

...Did anything important happen while I was gone?

[Presea doesn't address Sheena's first sentence, just gives her a bit of a stern look. She's serious, woman. As well as you think you are, it's obvious you're still injured and Presea will be unrelenting if she finds you more injured than you are now.

But, for now, explanation time!]

...Yes. Some time ago, the village was attacked by an otherwise new and unknown entity with a devastating and destructive force. ...Damages to the village were substantial, but otherwise fixed due to the shifting technology available. Casualties occurred, including unfortunate death of some residents.

As far as I am aware, the threat has been...neutralized.
