101. Experience

I've really gotta get back to training, so I'm looking to spar with a couple people. Anyone interested? I promise I'll go easy on you.

[[ooc: And I happen to really like writing out fight threads, but I know not all people do, so let me know which one you prefer if your character's interested.]]

[Successful grab and throw; the reciprocal energy she got from the attack lets her turn the throw into a neat landing. Besides, ninja learn to shoulder-throw from age single-digits.]

[The basics often work the best, either way! In pursuit of that throw, Adell launches another offensive. Confident that he's going to be able to land a blow, he'll throw a lot of strength behind his next punch.]

[there really is no fast recovery from being thrown, no matter how good you are at not crashing into the ground. As she turns to face him again she catches that punch right in the stomach and - judging from the power he's used so far - goes stumble-flying backwards. She ends up in a semi-defensive crouch near the edge of the roof, because standing is out of the question right then]

[And here he comes again. This time, he leaps into the air, aims a kick at her, and rockets downward at an angle like a missile. The move looks like it defies physics... and normally, he'd be on fire while he did this attack. It's a variation on his Soaring Fire technique, which produces a small shockwave on landing.]

[Ah. It's like a reverse Rising Falcon. The most she can manage is to roll out of the way of the kick; the shockwave will hit, and shake her up a bit. She's still in a crouch, but watching Adell carefully]

[He's still got the offensive advantage, and he's going to keep up the pressure all he can. The crouch affords her both some good evasion and attack opportunities, but he can't really give her that opening.

He presses his assault, sending a low sweep kick her way when he's able.]

[not one to fall so easily, she jumps when he lowers, just barely able to clear his head but definitely not down for the count yet. He'll be able to see she's tiring, though. ...Not that she'd ever forfeit]

[He doesn't expect her to. Because he never would either.

He's going to wheel around to face her. Though she barely cleared his head, he's not sure if she was preparing her own counterattack, so he's ready to guard it if he's able. Without any idea of her positioning, continuing that assault is reckless and could prove costly now.]

[she's standing again, cards in hand and looking just a hair deadlier than before. It's probably just because she's frowning so hard.]

[And he'll return that serious expression, raising a fist in front of him, and allowing it to ignite on fire. He's ready, and he'll lock eyes with her into a tense stare down.

The rest of his muscles are still tense, like a tiger ready to pounce.]

[Oh, fire. She can fire; her cards flash red, and she charges]

[Adrenaline surging, Adell charges forward to meet Sheena's assault. He'll lead with that flaming punch.]

[she'll meet it with a Pyre Seal]

[There's no resisting Pyre Seal's knockback effect when you run straight into it. Adell will meet that Pyre Seal face first and get flung back and off balance. His first act is to try to get his defenses back up before Sheena brutally punishes him for being wide open.]

[hey, it worked! We are surprised. But not too surprised to stop her from trying to hit a few of the more disabling pressure points. ...On a normal person, anyway]

[That's unpleasant. To say the least. And she's hitting pressure points dead on, and they're going to be sore for a good while. He'll make a couple of pained grunts, but when she goes for another point, he'll attempt to grab her by the arm, then retaliate with the opener to a three hit combination called Triple Strike.

If he succeeds, the first blow should stun, the second will knock her into the air, and the third will be a jump-kick to knock her back to the ground.]

[The fact is, she's worn out and tired after a day of sparring with various people. His grab succeeds and so does the Triple Strike. Stunned and unable to right herself, she hits the roof in a Bad Landing and doesn't get back up. What was that about first to knockout?]

[...That landing looked like it hurt and she wasn't faking it. When he lands he holds for a second to see if she stirs. It looks like he won? He's going to hurry on over and check on her. Even if it turns out to be a ruse, he'd much rather be sure she's okay.]

[nope, not a ruse. She plans her fakeouts much more carefully than that. Adell won the spar, this time.]

[This time indeed. Either way, he's going to wait around for awhile, hoping she'll come to pretty fast. He's certainly not going to leave her KO'd on the roof of the barracks. He'll be sitting down nearby in the meantime.]

[oh yes. She's only out for about a minute. When she comes to again she gets halfway up, looking defensive. But Adell's just sitting there...and she doesn't realize that she was unconscious at all]

Looks like you've come around. You okay?

[blink]

Come around? [is that why we're in mysterious pain?]

You hit the ground pretty hard after I hit you with Triple Strike. You were out cold for a good minute or two. Nothing hurt too badly, right?

N-No I wasn't!

[aw damn. That means we lost. She thinks about his question for a minute, then shrugs]

I don't think so.
