...I guess he's gone. I don't think he was captured. ...Maybe they sent him home. I hope so.

Anyway. Lloyd, I think I owe you a birthday present, right? Come over and get it. ...That reminds me, Allen, can I ask you something?

Whether they think so or not, that last experiment was pretty...damaging. Hopefully the next one isn't as bad. ...Though I'm not stupid enough to assume that. It's been raining a lot recently and it...it reminds me of when I first got here.

Believe me, I've heard some rather morbid stories in my time. And I'm a strategist; I deal with the dead with ... depressing frequency.

I should start by saying that I'm a summoner. I can make pacts with the elemental spirits in my world and call on them if I need help. ...I've been practicing to be one all my life.

When I was...seven years old...the village chief and his direct subordinates decided it was time I made a pact, because having the abilities of a Summon Spirit on our side in a conflict would be...advantageous.

It doesn't end there, Albert. ...But the rest of it is just self-pity, anyway.

I don't know why they made me like that all over again. I don't know what reactions they were after, or what they were looking at while it happened.

But if they can...can get control somehow...this place could and would turn into rubble. I tore apart their stupid lab the second time when they let me summon under my own power. ...Which was pretty stupid of me, really.

I'm sure there's nothing that would amuse them more than to see us tear each other up and then get upset over it.

...Are you aware of what happened to me during that last experiment? When we had our powers?

Not in specifics. I got a really vague answer from Caesar, and...I was kind of out of it for the whole thing, anyway.

This is ... not something to be shared with anyone else. It's important not to ... scare the populous with the idea that someone "in control" can be a threat.

I'm not a summoner by profession, but there are runes in my world that allow people to summon. These summons are powerful, and oftentimes destructive.

While I was insane, I tried to summon something into Luceti. Something horrible.

[a look that says he'd better not share what she just told him either]

I've summoned this creature before, outside of Luceti -- in my world. This creature was half of my army against three countries.

...It must be pretty big. And powerful.

...This probably isn't the best thing to say, but...do you think...

Listening to what you have to say, we've certainly found a commonality...

It's not one I want to admit, but it's staring us right in the face.

But the others who have been here as long as we have can't do anything like this. ...So what is it, then? Do they have...categories?

It's possible. Very possible. How it's decided is still a mystery -- whether it be about magical skill or personal power...

But we're here now. And we've both been kidnapped at least twice, and actually returned with memories of Luceti. Not many have been so ... lucky.

...I thought you could only lose the memories if you...if you died.

Maybe they just like giving me more nightmares.

There's some that ... have disappeared entirely from here, only to return with no memory. I guess I can't say with certainty that they didn't die, but... Like your friend, Colette. And ... Martel.

I think she was taken home and...brought back, from a different time period. Though I don't understand that either.

...That comes from years of practice. And having no one around when it wakes you up. ...Not that I want anyone to know that happens, either.

Maybe they see a potential experiment, but the person is from too far in the future or past for the potential to be used. Just a theory.
