118. Icing

[With the weather turning colder again, particularly cold today, it would feel like a long walk to anywhere.

It's especially long when you wander far out of your way in a rather sizable arc, because you are so absolutely sure of where you are going when in fact, no, you are wrong. That about sums it up for Sheena, who finally stops right where she is and sits down. Cold and snow be damned, she's sore and tired and not walking anymore.

Which is the wrong way to think. But there's a building through the trees ahead, and stiff fingers (why do her gloves have no fingers in this weather?) pull open the journal and write only:]

[Curious. Since Homura lives in that building himself, he'll write a reply.]

Is there anyone in particular you're trying to contact there?

[Zelos knows that handwriting, well enough anyways to figure it's her. C3... probably meant Community Building 3. He might as well head there.]

How bad're you hurt?

[...Reading. Someone wrote something to you Sheena, go on, read it.

The return writing is slow and stiff-looking]

No. ~~My loc~~ I'm here.

[she can talk, but the effort is about the same as writing and she's already got the pen in her hand and the book open.]

Don't know. Cold.

[The handwriting looks awkward, so Homura switches to the voice function of the journal.]

Then are you in trouble of some sort? I live in that building, so I could get to you quickly, if necessary.

[Not that Homura has any healing abilities himself, or even an altruistic nature. But it could prove beneficial.]

[Not that she can't say anything, but it's just easier to continue on the way she had been. Pen in hand, and so forth.]

Kidnapped.

Well, don't freeze to death before I find you.

[He'll grab her coat on the way out, and jog on over.]

Trees.

[As she wishes. Homura suspects his voice is easier to discern, however, so he continues to speak.]

The Malnosso, then.

[And since he's already seen just how badly those injuries can be, he'll be headed down now.]

[ooc: however you want to work this with your castmates is fine with me! Homura can just warm Sheena until someone else gets there, or whatever. :) I am completely flexible.]

[Ordinarily she would take a crack at that one. Of course it was the Malnosso. Like she'd let anyone else kidnap her. But there's just no reserve of snark for that, today.]

[[ooc: I think it would work if he maybe gets her into the building, and Zelos can get to her there.]]

[Well, Sheena doesn't know the sort of people Homura's been talking to lately, does she? It's not a given that it's their captors. But since the snark didn't happen, Homura will simply be making his way around the building, then into the woods to look for her.

Being able to move faster than an ordinary human helps with this, at least until he sees a human-shaped mass in the snow. Then he'll approach her.]

Are you the one who wrote "C3"?

[Well, Zelos books it there, but when he arrives...

She's not there. Uh oh. Maybe she moved a bit. Of course, while he looks around, ~~all concernicus~~ slightly concerned, he manages to slip on some ice. Ugh, that pants stain's going to be a pain to get out. Eventually he'll flip the journal back to the voice function out of frustration]

Where the hell are you?

[kneel-sitting and shivering, Sheena looks endlessly grateful when someone gets to her. For now she will just nod. She has only the standard New Feather dress and her usual canon-outfit gloves. It's a weird combination and the Malnosso have one hell of a sense of humor, don't they?

Anyway. She's cold.]

[The nod is enough for Homura. Without any immediate sign of injury, he'll kneel down in front of Sheena to address the issue of her temperature. Thankfully that's a simple enough task--to begin, Homura holds out a hand and forms a small flame over the palm. He doesn't plan to remain outside long with the woman in that outfit, but there is something he needs to clarify first.]

I can carry you inside if you can't walk. However, if you wish to protest, now is your chance.

[It's kind of dark, but she's so exposed and pale that actually, all of her bruises probably stand out quite well. But there aren't any apparent serious injuries. And the fire is so nice, small as it is.

His offer is nice too, but she has more pride than that. So she clears her throat and tries to stop her teeth chattering long enough to say something]

I'll walk.

[The main thing is that it doesn't look like she's about to bleed out. So Homura increases the heat coming off his hand with practiced ease, and grins a bit as he moves to his feet.]

Whenever you're ready, then.

[The hand holding the flame is kept low, close to Sheena so she can benefit from it. He'll hold out his other hand to her in an offer to help her stand.]

[She'll need both. The hand that ends up in his will feel like ice. It's not that far, though, so she can muster the energy for this bit.]

Of course.

[Compared to the chill in Sheena's touch, Homura's skin might well feel as if it's on fire. He'll also shrug off the outer haori he wears before draping it over Sheena's shoulders. It's not much, but more than what she has now. And the flame will be maintained as they walk.]

Were you able to get in touch with anyone else?

[It's kind of a lot, considering she has nothing and his haori was bound to be already sort of warm. It might even be a little bit before she can feel it.]

Yeah. Zelos.

Not a name I'm familiar with, I'm afraid.

[But so long as she does have someone, that's reassuring. Homura walks at a relatively slow pace, keeping an eye on Sheena in case she stumbles and needs to be caught, and of course maintaining that fire as they move.]

If you told him where to find you, you might want to update him. I'll take you to C3 since it's not far.

[She's watching her feet, because she can't really feel them so looking at them will help avoid a stumble]

Okay. When we get there.

[Homura notes that, then arches an eyebrow.]

Exactly how long were you wandering outside?

I dunno. A while.

[until she finally had some sense of direction. Doesn't matter, it's cold today and ten minutes would've been enough.]

...I see.

[Well, he had given her the choice, but considering her state, Homura decides that it would be better for her continued well-being if they prioritized haste over bravado. So Sheena will have one warning: the suddenly disappearence of that fire Homura's been making up to this point. Then she'll find herself in the arms of a pretty strong and capable demi-god. The movements are quick and precise, and while Sheena can struggle, Homura's not the sort who is physically overcome easily.

Oh, and he'll also start moving immediately, at a significantly faster pace than before.]

[The fire going out was a surprise and she was just about to protest. Then he picked her up. ...Just this once she can let her pride take the hit, she thinks. It's kind of painful to be carried, in that distant pain-through-cold way, but it's a good sacrifice for speed and getting inside.]
